Have had several hospital stays due to surgery from having osteoarthritis and other diagnosis. Looking at more surgical procedures in the near future…I couldn’t have had the help I have been having, for the past 10+ years, without Medicare and Medicaid.

I am epileptic and suffer from heart issues. I absolutely can not afford my anti-seizure medications without Medicaid. I would without a doubt die if I can’t afford them anymore due to Medicaid cutbacks.

My father had to travel for over an hour regularly for basic care because rural hospitals have been closing. We had to find drivers for him as the family doesn’t live close by. Americans deserve better.

I am a survivor of three open heart surgeries having a heart attack at 37 followed by a double bypass... I have stents and at least 12 to 15 catherizations as well receiving a pacemaker after another procedure failed which deadens certain nerves around the heart. Having led a very active life including fly fishing, cross country, skiing and photography. I was able to run with no problem. I owe much of this to a strong desire to live, and great medical care. My wife and I were always kept informed about my progress during the surgeries. I am thankful for the professional care I received. Just turned 80.

If it wasn’t for the hospitals with E.R.s, I would have died a couple of times! I had an etopic pregnancy (my fallopian tube ruptured). Then, I could hardly breathe. Again was rushed to hospital and had blood clots in my lungs (right one was worse than left)… Then had a mammogram and something was detected in my left lung so they took quite a few tests and discovered I had cancer down in my left lobe… So, my oncologist said she would do it with Radiation and I had to go through approximately 15 rounds of radiation and I cried as it went into REMISSION. Thank God

We have a great small hospital here in Paris,TN. Unfortunately, they have closed the OBGYN wing. But, that did not stop them from giving my grand-daughter excellent care when she came through the ER. She was scared and a little anxious. She hadn’t felt her baby move in awhile and was really upset. The intake worker, the nurse and doctor were so kind and understanding. Brought in a Doppler and found the babies heart beat and eased my grand-daughter!

On March 22, 2024 I went to the Mayo Hospital ER in Eau Claire, WI. I thought I was having an appendicitis… By noon, I was on a hospital bed in the hallway. What I didn’t know was that this was the day that two major hospitals: Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire and St Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa both closed their doors. The Emergency Room was extremely busy and one of the nurses explained 13 people slept in the rooms in the ER…. The loss of two hospitals in the Chippewa Valley is having a huge impact on the healthcare of our families.

I have struggled and sacrificed seeing family and my only grandson’s firsts of everything in order to pay health insurance premiums for over 3 years 7 months. After I retired from a life of working since 16 years old… I have gone into debt in order to pay monthly health insurance premiums from $281 to almost $600… I have paid always into Social Security and Medicare since being a teenager until retirement. You have no authority or right to cut programs you have wrongly borrowed from and now want to cut our programs!

In 1973, I was 19 years old. I was in the hospital for 1 1/2 weeks before they knew what was wrong with me. My right kidney never worked and was the size of a small watermelon when they took it out. In 1973, having a kidney removed was major surgery. I have a ‘zipper’ from the middle of my back to the middle of my stomach, and my recovery lasted 3 months. I just turned 70 years old. If the doctors and nurses weren’t persistent, I would have died. I could say ‘thank you’ until the end of time, and it wouldn’t be enough. So thank you for my life, it’s been pretty good to me!
