Tiny Francis’ parents never gave up during 118 days in the NICU. Watch their story.

Francis William Azize was born four months premature, weighing only one pound, nine ounces. Doctors said he was the sickest baby in the NICU at the time, and gave him a 15% chance of survival.

To make the hospital feel more like home, the nurses suggested to Francis’ family that they draw some designs on his whiteboard. They decided to draw the characters from Finding Nemo.

At that moment, they never expected to receive a special note from the creator of Finding Nemo, which would give them the strength they needed during a difficult time.

Watch the ABC News video to see Francis’ inspiring journey.

To all the parents who never give up hope, today we recognize you. And to the Hospital Heroes who save lives, we say thank you.
