Stories from the State
Advocates from across the country submit their patient stories about 24/7 care, large corporate insurers, and rural healthcare access in order to highlight the importance of access to care.
In December 2023 I went to an urgent care in Denton, Maryland, having a hard time breathing. The doctor said I had very low oxygen in my blood. I was taken to Easton Memorial Hospital and the doctor, nurses and technicians gave me the best care. I am happy to know I can count on University of Maryland Healthcare to take care of me.

I was hospitalized with COVID pneumonia back in 2020, at which time I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and the care I received was outstanding. I was back home after a 7-day stay, and the hospital nurses and the doctor team saved my life. When I checked myself into the hospital, I could barely breathe, but the care that I received really made a difference, as the outcome could have been much worse.
