WASHINGTON — The Coalition to Strengthen America’s Healthcare today launched a new national seven-figure digital, cable, and broadcast advertising campaign underscoring the importance of the life-saving, specialized care that only hospitals provide.
The campaign features a new ad, “Beckett,” that tells the story of a child born with a congenital heart defect who received life-saving care from his community children’s hospital. A coordinated team of more than 40 professionals, including surgeons, physicians, nurses and more, performed three open heart surgeries and delivered the care Beckett needed.
The story of Beckett and his family highlights the essential care that only hospitals provide — and the need for policymakers to prioritize protecting and strengthening resources for patient care.
This campaign follows the Coalition’s efforts this year to highlight the essential care hospitals provide patients 24/7, regardless of their ability to pay, and the need to strengthen access to that care in communities across the U.S. A recent Coalition study by KNG Health Consulting confirmed that hospitals and health systems provide vital, around-the-clock emergency and specialty care, finding that more than 60 percent of emergency department visits occur on weekends or after regular business hours, when many other providers are closed.
