National Ad Launches to Safeguard Vital Health Program

WASHINGTON— The Coalition to Strengthen America’s Healthcare today launched Faces of Medicaid, a national ad campaign that will highlight Medicaid’s critical impact on more than 72 million Americans who rely on the program for access to care. The campaign tells the story of the crucial role Medicaid plays in the health of America’s most vulnerable citizens — our neighbors and friends, including 30 million children, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities.

The first ad in the Faces of Medicaid campaign will begin airing Tuesday, February 25th, in the Washington, D.C., media market, as well as additional media markets across the country and through a robust digital media campaign.

The Coalition, which comprises more than 2.6 million grassroot advocates, is launching the ad campaign on the heels of potential cuts to Medicaid that would threaten patient access to care, especially in rural areas. Rural hospitals are facing increasing closures and financial challenges, particularly in states that have not expanded Medicaid. In the last decade, over 100 rural hospitals have closed or been converted, and 429 rural hospitals are at high financial risk.

Polling reveals that Medicaid is viewed favorably by 75% of Republicans, and nearly nine in ten Americans favor either increasing or keeping Medicaid funding at current levels, according to recent research. The ad is part of the Coalition’s decades-long mission to increase access to care for patients and oppose cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.
