Stories from the State

Advocates from across the country submit their patient stories about 24/7 care, large corporate insurers, and rural healthcare access in order to highlight the importance of access to care.
I am a retired R.N who worked in operating rooms assisting surgeons taking care of people who had been shot, needed their ruptured appendix removed, needed their brain bleed stopped, and had broken bones sticking out. Imagine that is your child, grandparent, yourself. You drive to the local hospital or clinic only to find it closed. You keep going. It takes two hours to reach the next closest hospital. Imagine how frightening and stressful that will be.

Living in Utah, some hospitals are hundreds of miles apart. Some clinics instead of emergency medical care! To eliminate rural hospitals will only create more problems for the sick or wounded!
