Stories from the State

Advocates from across the country submit their patient stories about 24/7 care, large corporate insurers, and rural healthcare access in order to highlight the importance of access to care.
I am a retired RN with a master’s degree in cardiovascular nursing. During my career, I worked in and managed ICUs. A number of these patients would have died without rapid, appropriate care, and some would have hurt other people. Without three shifts of care, a hospital is really a clinic.
Mary M
I am a registered nurse of 21 years that has worked at several hospitals as a Per-Diem RN and a Travel RN. Critical emergencies can happen anytime of the day and night. We must have 24/7 care to protect our patients safety and to treat their critical emergencies immediately.
