Stories from the State

Advocates from across the country submit their patient stories about 24/7 care, large corporate insurers, and rural healthcare access in order to highlight the importance of access to care.
As a Nurse, I will absolutely stand behind people having 24/7/365 access to healthcare. A person can go from looking perfectly healthy and even the vitals being stable to being in a life threatening situation in moments. Consider a person having a heart issue, problems breathing, anaphylactic shock, stroke, may have only an hour to just moments to receive skilled care, to save their life or keep from being on life support or long term care!

Thankful to the doctors, nurses and nurse aides who took care of my mom while she was hospitalized twice in two months. Based on her admission symptoms, they were able to run tests to confirm a cancer diagnosis. They kept her very comfortable and managed other health issues and weight concerns. With well prepared planning she was sent home on hospice.
