Stories from the State

Advocates from across the country submit their patient stories about 24/7 care, large corporate insurers, and rural healthcare access in order to highlight the importance of access to care.
Several years ago, I was extremely sick with a unknown sickness. During this event, I was admitted to the Mayo Clinic Hospital — unable to move, talk or eat. Without my doctors and nurses, I wouldn’t be here today. I’m thankful for all the hospital staff.

My husband was a heart patient, having had 2 open heart surgeries and lots of stents in between. We live in Holton, KS, and are so blessed to have a local hospital to take care of most of our needs. We LOVE our local hospital, and it is why we have stayed here after retirement instead of moving closer to our family. I hope that our hospital will be able to serve our community for many, many more years.
