Stories from the State

Advocates from across the country submit their patient stories about 24/7 care, large corporate insurers, and rural healthcare access in order to highlight the importance of access to care.
In 2020, I was in a tragic motorcycle accident. The person who hit me left me there for dead. I ended up in the ICU. The entire ICU staff was so helpful and supportive. They took really good care of me. I’m very grateful for that medical staff. After eight months, I went home and started a new life as a below the left leg amputee.

Since 2020, I have had follicular lymphoma, a cancer that is treatable but not curable. I have been to stage four two times. Medicare allows for me to receive treatment every month.
